About Me

Basics

Name: Julie.
Age: 21, b. May 23, Gemini.
Contact: jyuulii via AIM, and jjulie88[at]gmail[dot]com.
Occupation: Student, English honours.
Timezone: PST.
Trivia: Scatter-brained but fond of obsessive organisation, as evidenced by this wiki. Has extremely eclectic music tastes. Probably the only RPer you know who happens to be a Norwegian/Eurasian mutt, also known as a Scandinasian, also known as a Samurai Viking.

As a Player

Experience: Nearing ten years now, and I still know people who played with me back then who can vouch for this fact. I literally grew up on Telnet-style MU*s (mostly Redwall MUCK and Hogwarts MOO) and honed my writing skills over there. I later made the transition to journal-based games on LJ, and then lived on greatestjournal until it imploded. Now I'm pretty much only on insanejournal.

Statistics: As of June 16, 2008, my retired characters numbered 41 males and 39 females, and the ratio was just as consistent last year. Conclusion? I'm almost perfectly 50-50% with my roster. Normally, if you give me four character slots, I will definitely make them two men and two women.

Archetypes: I love playing men. I especially love playing emotionally stilted men, plus light-hearted, off-kilter men with a penchant for lofty language and lists. For some biased summary of the concepts I think I keep coming back to, see here!

Does Play: Anything that gets my creative juices flowing properly, really. I'm a little bit obsessed with filling underused niches and taking direly needed roles, which has resulted in writing a lot of older men. I can handle both OCs and canon characters (major or minor); the canon chars are generally where I push my limits to see if I can pull off tricky characterisations (see: John Constantine, Sherlock Holmes). Otherwise, I'm free-range: male, female, old, young, stable, psychotic — whatever you want, I might be able to do it. I just don't play teens all that often anymore, thanks to HP-verse burning me out. I'll do OC games with a twist, Final Fantasy, video games, some TV shows, and literary figures.

Doesn't Play: Celebrity games. PB games, particularly ones where you talk on AIM as your character. Large multi-fandom games without structure — don't even bother advertising them to me. I'm also largely done with Harry Potter, fairytales, and canon Supernatural.

As a Mod

I know everyone wants to toot their own horn, but I like to think I'm a pretty damn stable moderator. Apart from one unfortunate exception due to sheer bad timing (see: Shinras), I don't start games willy-nilly and then bail on them, and I've never had to shut something down after less than four months. I'm extremely careful about who I work with, to make sure we have sane and level-headed people behind the reins — I've never had a falling-out with a co-mod, and am still pretty much BFF with my past compadres. In my own experience, the games were pretty low on drama and players seemed very satisfied and very, very loyal. I also don't mod that often. Neopolis and Crossover are likely my last forays into this — but then again, that's what I said about Fairly Tales, and now look where I am.

Additionally, I will do my absolute best if moderating with Sarah, Ryan, and Emily. It's just a fact.
