history&personality
Caspar was raised in Ottery St. Catchpole by his mother, since Charles divorced and left the family years ago. Moira grudgingly let her son visit his father when he was twelve, but the visit did not go well at all. He couldn't stand the fact that his wife was a witch, and he had equal troubles accepting that his son was a wizard. Charles simply did not get along well with the quiet, imaginative boy who was supposedly his son. Caspar has since then comes to terms with the fact that his father won't speak to him. He copes extremely well with the situation, and just picks up and moves along. He has instinctively moved more towards the wizarding world as a result, and is absolutely hopeless regarding Muggles. He has no idea how to dress or behave like one.
Moira was a marvellous mother, and has managed to raise a son who is both extremely quiet and extremely open-minded. He's open to all experiences, all walks of life, all people. And a bookish type, Caspar is also distant and reserved, dignified and very self-contained — and almost painfully polite with women. He virtually possesses an aura of calm around him, and few things manage to ruffle his feathers. A born Ravenclaw - dreamy and often lost in his own thoughts, a brilliant thinker, and a very keen drawer and photographer. Caspar is constantly wandering around and outside Hogwarts taking photos, and with the permission of a professor, has built himself a darkroom somewhere in a closet in the castle. His area in the dormitory is plastered with developed photography and magazine clippings; he'll often just stick in drawings or photos into his journal instead of writing in it.
He's a big fan of anything zoology-related - he draws diagrams of animals, takes notes, and does birdwatching during the holidays. Yet non-magical animals often end up boring him, and his biggest love is, understandably, Care of Magical Creatures. Caspar is also intensely superstitious, following the influence of his rather off-kilter and not-quite-sane grandfather's penchant for old folk beliefs. He fanatically collects random objects, such as bottlecaps, corks, and feathers. And having read extensively in outdated and questionable creature books, he firmly believes in the existence of many fantasy animals that simply wouldn't, even in the wizarding world. His mother always felt it was simply a childish delight, and should be encouraged at all costs. Now, years later, Caspar is almost graduating Hogwarts and he still carries around this belief in outlandish creatures.
He can be brusque and to-the-point when irritated, and tries to keep himself away from any sort of drama or in-school intrigues.
