your character's name: Charna Lowood

position: Keyblade Master, Darkness
powers: A certain brand of magic allows her to extend her grip on her flame-marked keyblade, Valkyrum. She can send it spinning away from her and then snap it back in with a whip-like rope of fire, or alternately, use the fire itself as a weapon. The magic is keenly attuned the keyblade and to her body, and therefore does not burn her hands — but stray too far away from the heart of her keyblade, and handling the rope of fire may begin to hurt Charna herself.
character history: Born and raised on the Destiny Islands, Charna led a relatively uneventful life up until the age of five. Then, she and her parents had the misfortune to come across a tremendous storm while crossing the ocean on one of the inter-island ferries. Most of the islanders on the ferry perished, including Charna's parents, but the girl was rescued and carried to safety at the nearest island. From then on, she lived in an orphanage, and inherited a deep, instinctive fear of water. As a result, island life didn't appeal to the girl — while all the other children were frolicking on the beach, Charna chose to remain in the orphanage, as far in the building as she could manage, in the deepest basements, in the darkest rooms. There, and only there, could she relax, without the sound of the waves or the smell of the salt in the air.
The management of the orphanage attempted to lure her outside into the sunlight, but always failed. The island was small enough to offer a view of the ocean no matter where one stood, and though as she grew older, Charna's paralyzing fear subsided, she is still inherently uncomfortable in open spaces and in the sight of vast expanses of water.
On her eighteenth birthday, Charna was supplied with enough money to rent her own apartment and move out of the orphanage, and she chose one of the largest islands available: the closest to an urban setting the young woman could find. Grim-faced and serious, she acquired her own home and independence, still grudgingly following shadows and darkness wherever she went. A year later, she visited the orphanage only to find it burned to the ground, the area abandoned. As she wandered the ashes, she stumbled across a flickering object, which solidified itself as a keyblade, reacting with her heart: the dark keyblade Valkyrum. It's been only a few months since then, and encountering the Thirteenth Order, she has been struggling to arrange her thoughts on the conflict.
character personality: Most of the time, Charna attempts to portray herself as calm, professional, and collected. She clearly clearly falls short, however, feeling emotions far more strongly than she should. The nineteen-year-old has a tendency to lose her temper at others around her, having astoundingly short patience for people. She holds a high level of expectation for anyone called her "friend", and primarily desires the company of those who could be of benefit to her. Years of solitude have taught her that, though she can make it on her own, any human connection ought to aid her in some way. She has an extremely observant nature, however, and a tendency to pay attention to others' behaviour that can be quite unnerving at times. Though she might pretend to be aloof in a conversation, she is always listening and remembering, and attempting to read between the lines, perhaps becoming a bit riled in the process.
character appearance: At nineteen years old, Charna stands at 5'3" with a small frame, her primary physical prowess being her speed and agility. Her face is rounded and still slightly child-like, her eyes wide and almost eerily blue. When relaxed, her expression is surprisingly serious, but it can often change into paralyzing fits of rage or quiet, simmering anger. Her red-brown hair is scruffy and kept at shoulder-length. The hair settles in a messy cut just above her eyes, with longer locks on the sides and in the back, which stray across her cheeks.
Her keyblade is a molten fire-red, and is formed in the shape of flames caught in motion. When in battle, the keyblade blazes with a ferocious light — purely aesthetic, besides the magical, burning thread that Charna controls.
