BACKGROUND
HISTORY Ioan, Angie and Dai Llewellyn, born and raised in the outskirts of Cardiff, were three everyday run-of-the-mill Welsh children — literally. Their mother came from a town called Llanymynech, which straddled the line between England and Wales, and as a result worked at a cotton mill in England. A while after the Great Depression, however, Marisa and her family fled to the growing city of Cardiff in the wake of World War II, hoping to find better employment. Times were harsh, but she soon enough met Rhys Llewellyn, a jovial man in the mining industry. As the city expanded around them, they struggled to raise their three children, hampered by the strange events and disasters that seemed to follow the family around every corner.
Come Dai's eleventh birthday, and they eventually discovered something new about their son: He was no Saint David, but he was indeed magical, unlike Ioan and Angie. The Hogwarts representative was a soft-spoken professor who explained the entire matter to them, which neatly justified the bizarre accidents that seemed to follow David everywhere. And now, looking back, Dai can remember very little of his first year of Hogwarts — besides flying. Oh, how he remembers flying. The boy took to his broomstick like a fish to water, and easily transferred his skill with football and rugby to this strange, delightful new sport. Dai had always been rather good at rugby while playing with his older brother — he was fast, he was strong, but to Marisa's dismay, he was also reckless. His role in Hogwarts proved the same. David Llewellyn was never Prefect material, instead being the boy to get into scuffles and fights and long dull hours of detention, but he eventually made it onto Gryffindor's team as a Beater in his third year.
And that's when his life truly began.
Now, years later, he's taken his history with him, along with a larger-than-average chip on his shoulder against any pureblooded mentalities. Blood means nothing when it's spilled on the Quidditch pitch, and blood has nothing to do with flying talent. He was determined to prove himself, and that he did — ever since immersing himself in the sport, he had been dragging his family to the Caerphilly Catapults games during the summer. And after Hogwarts, Dai joined the tryouts for the team and stayed on as a reserve for a while, before becoming a full Beater in mid-1978.
PERSONALITY "He flew like a madman!" Kennilworthy Whisp will eventually write about Dai, and this summary applies effectively to Dai's own personality. He's a bit of a wild child, and constantly lived up to the stereotype of the wacky, hyperactive teenager. In fact, he might actually have an attention deficit disorder that his parents haven't officially rooted out yet — Dai is a social butterfly and flits from person to person, friend to friend, with equal love and affection for all of them. His reckless behaviour landed him firmly in Gryffindor, and it's also landed him in more than a spot of trouble over the years… he's gotten into arguments with people who question the talents of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, with boys who made sidelong glances at his girlfriends in Hogsmeade, and with any purebloodist bigot who was asinine enough to offend Dai's friends in front of him. He has an overwhelmingly huge heart, however, and would often end up playing the role of male lion defending his friends — who are, ironically enough, usually a bunch of girls.
ZODIAC
Aries: The Gryffindor Aries is extremely idealistic, and has a tendency to fight hard for many causes - the more lost, the better. Gryffindors born under this sign will also have very short fuses, and can be expected to fight regularly with other students, over ethical questions or over anything else that makes a good excuse. Since Mars is a planet that encourages war games and competition and bursts of hard physical activity, there may be many Quidditch players born under these aspects. A Gryffindor Aries is an open book; a truth potion would never be needed on one, because they are hopelessly honest and open. These wizards will display uncanny charisma and leadership ability, and will be among the most popular within their class.
