History: Richard Troy, a not-quite-so-talented Hufflepuff alumni, at some point settled down and married a Muggle woman named Meghan Cauldwell. Ashamed of his shoddy magic skills, he worked primarily behind the scenes at the Department of Magical Transportation, doing paperwork all day long. Living with Meghan and without magic didn't affect him all too much, and in fact, he found Muggle lifestyle quite fascinating.

But when the children were born, of course, the truth had to come out. Ever since then, Meghan has been shouldering the stress of raising two magical children while her husband became slowly more and more engrossed in his work at the Ministry. Finally, when Jonathan was fifteen, the parents divorced. The children now spend half of their summers with either Richard or Meghan, with either magical or Muggle lifestyles.

Thoughts on Voldemort: Anyone who knows Jonathan knows that he wants to be an Auror. He's intensely serious about doing well in school, getting the NEWTs grades his father didn't, and choosing a side in the war.

Thoughts on blood purity: A load of crock. He's disdainful of the idea that wizards and Muggles are actually different races, or that blood has any effect on magical ability. He has his almost-Squibbish fullbood father for an example, after all.

Personality: Yes, Jonathan is a Gryffindor. He's also cold and sarcastic and a bit of a jackass. His sense of humour, sardonic and wry, occasionally ends up shoving people away from him, and his intense temper does the same. He's passionate about a lot of things, which is where the stereotypical Gryffindor idealism appears. Jonathan's intense ambition could have landed him in Slytherin, but almost-foolhardy bravery, a desperate unvoiced desire to change the world for the better, and unconditional protective love for his sister shoved him into Gryffindor instead.

John's personal bubble extends much further than most normal people's, and he is incredibly uncomfortable with hugs and snuggles and random signs of friendly physical affection - unless it's romantic, which is another thing entirely. And he will always refer to others by their surnames; it takes a while to earn his trust beyond that point.

Troy will refer to his dormmates by their firstnames - outside of that, however, only very close friends merit that honour. He'll never use nicknames, no matter what.
