- Arcturus: His grandfather's name. The fourth brightest star in the sky; only Sirius, Canopus and Alpha Centauri outshine it.

Appearance: Tall and thin, Regulus isn't the most sturdily-built of boys. In fact, he can look quite delicate and fragile. He bears the standard good looks of the Black family, and resembles his brother with his dark, messy hair and pale eyes - but Reg's features are thinner, his skin paler, his expression more sombre.

For Ancient Greeks and Romans the left side symbolized unfavorable omens and perverseness. For Regulus, symbolism is stupid.
Personality: Regulus yearns for attention and respect. Having grown up in the shadow of his older brother, he reverted to ways of seeking approval from his parents, and approval from his peers at Hogwarts. Their attention is gold to him - in fact, others' opinion of him matters more than his own. Along the course of his life, Regulus' inner voice has gotten a bit stifled, to be replaced with the voices of his parents, housemates, and brother. He is quiet and calculating - a trait worthy of Ravenclaw - but his tireless persistence in advancing himself above others makes him a definite Slytherin. He understands the motivations and ideas behind others, perhaps even better than he understands his own.
Reg can be friendly and playful, but only in the right circumstances. In recent years, he is becoming even more of a direct contrast to his estranged brother - he is serious and sober, and consistently reins in his emotions. Any letters he sends are perfectly composed, carefully thought-out, and written in the most flowing of hands. He is eloquent and snake-tongued, and bitter when incensed, yet terribly afraid of shouting or being shouted at.
