Take all the characters from various epic video game RPGs that you've ever wanted to play. Put them all together on a mish-mash planet filled with locations from Final Fantasy worlds, layered on top of the grungy cyberpunk atmosphere of Final Fantasy VII. Add technology and magic, a seedy nightlife, underground resistance movements, military academies named Garden … and write it all in the shadow of the shady Shin-Ra corporation, a looming threat of sorceresses, and that freaky crater up north. Interested yet?
The big villains are off-limits, but everyone else is fair game. Our main setting is Midgar — in all its lower- and upper-plate glory, slums and riches — where people scrape out their lives under the radioactive light of the Mako reactor. Shin-Ra meddles in public affairs far more than an electric company ought to, which the free press town of Timber reports on with enthusiasm — when it's not commenting on the latest blitzball match at Luca, that is. Teens from Midgar take the train out to Treno for alcohol and illicit gambling. The monarchy of Lindblum bumps political shoulders with the militaristic presidency of Galbadia. The laboratories of doctors Hojo and Odine trade technological secrets behind the scenes. In short, we've put most of the Final Fantasy universes in a blender and flipped the switch — and now we want to see what happens.
